Admission of Students:
Saint Mary's School is in operation to serve the parish members and those families wishing to fully participate in a Christian program of spiritual and academic growth for their children. The School will not discriminate in admitting students with respect to race, nationality or religion. The school will reserve the right to deny admission to, or accept with conditions, students with exceptional physical, emotional or educational needs. The Principal and/or Pastor will have the right to accept or deny admittance to students, depending upon the reason for transfer, in order to maintain school standards.

The school, further, will expect that all students and families will accept and participate in the religious mission and training which is part of the parish school's function, whether or not they are practicing Catholics.

School families are expected to support the school through tuition payments, parish stewardship and through participation in needed projects, organizations, parish and school service, and all fundraising for school improvement and educational enrichment.

All students must meet Wisconsin immunization requirements.

The principal may request a report card, permission to call the students present school, schedule an interview with all enrolling families and students prior to accepting registration. New students will also be tested to assure they are ready for the grade they are enrolling in. Students registering in grades 5-8 may be asked for a letter of reference from the former teacher or administrator.

Preference for registration will be given in the following order*:
  1. Children already enrolled and current in their payment plan.
  2. Brothers and sisters of already attending students.
  3. Children of registered parishioners, and children of employees.
  4. All others. In the case of a waiting list, students are accepted on a first registered basis. If registration dates are identical, a lottery will be used.
*The policy assumes timely enrollment. Preference may not be granted in the case of a delay of enrollment.

Families who plan to register at St. Mary's Parish should do so before registering in the school. Following parish registration contact the principal regarding school registration. If transferring from another school within the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, final registration will depend upon proof of satisfaction for all previous financial responsibilities.

Active members of other Catholic Parishes are welcome to send their children to St. Mary's School and yet remain members of their own parish.

Kindergarten Enrollment:
Children who will be five years of age before September 1st of the enrolling school year will be accepted, using the same preference information shown on the previous page, and if screening test (or another assessment) indicates readiness.

Kindergartners are on probationary status for at least the first semester, to determine maturity and readiness. The school policy does not permit early admission of kindergartners.

Probationary Status of New Students:
All students entering St. Mary's will be considered on probation through the first year, pending receipt and examination of records, and observation by teachers. During the probationary period the teachers and the administrator will determine whether the student can function successfully within the school's program. In the event of suspected exceptional educational needs, the school reserves the right to request referral for testing through the local school system. In the event of discovery that the school cannot serve a student, the decision of the administrator, in consultation with the Pastor, shall be final.
