Outreach was formed at St. Mary’s in 1984. Its purpose is to help our parishioners respond to the needs of others outside of the St. Mary’s community. This is done during the months where there is a fifth Sunday.
The loose change and dollars from the collection are used for the needy, along with specially marked envelopes for outreach. The money is divided equally among local, state, national and global recipients.
The recording secretary summarized the requests, presents them to the committee for Local, State, National and Global categories. Selections are made from requests that will benefit the most people and then are presented to the Pastoral Council for approval. A contingency fund is maintained for emergencies that occur between collections.
