Financial Stewardship

Giving Thanks Through Financial Stewardship

November 2015

As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, it is appropriate that we call to mind the many people and things in our lives that we are grateful for.  So many times we take people or things for granted that we do not stop to realize what life would be like without them.  Hopefully, our parish of the Immaculate Conception is one of those things that we find ourselves grateful for.

We have much to be thankful for as a parish family.  Our parish has been around a long time, and with the Lord’s help, and yours, will continue to be around for many years to come.  As I look over the records and books that have been so diligently kept over the years, I am overwhelmed by the tremendous amount of history we have here.  Many of the priests who served here in the very early years of this parish were European immigrants who came to America to serve what was then known as “mission territory.”  It is safe to say that we are no longer “mission territory”; we are a strong faith community.  Many of your family members, relatives and friends worked and sacrificed for this parish in order that we may worship here today.  Today, we are called on to do the same.

With this letter, I am asking you to once again make a commitment in terms of time/talent and treasure to the parish.  Please carefully consider how you might help the parish in the year to come.  In order to carry on our parish’s tradition, we need to work hard to make sure our parish can meet the needs of our people today.  Please complete the enclosed forms and return them to the parish office by December 1, 2015.

Thank you for your commitment and your cooperation.  It is only because of the love and dedication of all of the parishioners, past and present, that our parish has continued for 177 years. That is no small accomplishment and is something that we can all be extremely proud of.  May the Lord grant you the fullest of blessings for your generosity and support.

With best wishes for a wonderful holiday season, I remain yours in Christ,

Reverend James T. Volkert, Pastor
